India’s Largest Entertainment and Recreation Zone to Be Hosted by Rs 5,000 Crore Plan; A 158-Metre Ferris Wheel Among The Attractions
GIFT City, India’s premier tech hub and a global name, is ready to launch a massive entertainment, retail, and recreational zone. The planned 20-acre site will have theme parks, gaming arcades, and various recreational facilities.
The zone will feature the GIFT Eye—a colossal Ferris wheel, similar to the London Eye, reaching a height of 158 meters. The zone will also have a cultural zone, with art galleries, theaters, and performance spaces.
The Entertainment Zone will offer a retail and dining bonanza, with a diverse range of options for different tastes and preferences.
“A lively Retail cum Entertainment hub is a vital requirement along with our strong business hub,” said a senior official of GIFT City. The project is estimated to cost Rs 5,000 crore, and global tenders have been floated. The state government hopes to seal the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the project during the forthcoming Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit in January.
The zone, covering at least 1.5 million square feet, will have high-street retail or a shopping mall, a food plaza, a musical fountain show, a game zone, water sports, a theater, gardens, and recreational areas. The Cultural Center will have facilities such as art galleries, theaters, and performance spaces. The zone will also provide peaceful green spaces, parks, and recreational areas, giving a calm retreat from the busy city.
This Recreational Infrastructure Project is in line with the GIFT City vision, attracting visitors not only from the nearby cities of Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar but also establishing itself as a tourism attraction for people from across India and abroad, the official added. Parties with a net worth of more than Rs 10,000 crore will be eligible to bid. They must have developed at least one project on a minimum land area of 21 acres and designed and completed at least one mall.
