Australia’s Deakin University, the first foreign university to set up an international branch campus at GIFT City, will inaugurate its campus on January 10 – the inaugural day of the three-day Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit to be held in Gandhinagar.
“Inauguration of Deakin University’s GIFT City campus will coincide with the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit. The campus will be officially inaugurated in the presence of the Chancellor and Vice-Chancellor of Deakin University, senior government officials and representatives from academia and industry,” an official of Deakin University said.
Last month, the university had opened applications for its two postgraduate programmes – masters in cybersecurity (professional) and masters in business analytics – starting July 2024, at an annual fee of AUD 19,000 (Rs 10.7 lakh). Both courses are to cater to 60 students each. Applications for admissions are to be accommodated till March 31.
Another Australian university coming up at GIFT City, University of Wollongong, will open its applications for masters in computing (data analytics) in January 2024 while an undergraduate programme in computing will start in 2025.
The near-complete 25,000 sq ft campus is stated to have space for integrating academic and business pursuits. While the ground floor would have dedicated spaces for industry partners, start-ups and entrepreneurs, the top floor would be the dedicated university campus with learning spaces.
“With the latest in cutting-edge technology, the campus promises to be a game-changer. It is poised to play a crucial role in fulfilling GIFT City’s ambitious goal of producing a stream of job-ready graduates. It is a developing business model and a maiden project being executed in India,” an university had told The Indian Express in August this year.
